Warriors flat in loss to Lakers 117-97

Young and hungry Lakers took down the Warriors

Luke Walton led the Golden State Warriors last year in Steve Kerr's absence.  His record as an interim coach was 39-4. The LA Lakers hired the young apprentice in April to lead a very young team. Walton is now 1-0 versus Steve Kerr and the Warriors as his Lakers squad trounced the Dubs 117-97.

Luke Walton: “We’re sharing the ball, playing like a team and we’re fighting … our guys from opening tip really got after it.”

The Lakers definitely had a great team effort as six player scored in double figures: Julius Randle (20), Louis Williams (20), D'Angelo Russell (17), Brandon Ingram (12), Larry Nance Jr. (12), and Nick Young (12).

Six Lakers were also in double figures in the Plus/Minus category: Brandon Ingram +22, Jordan Clarkson +17, Larry Nance Jr. +17, Louis Williams +17, Julius Randle +10, and Tariq Black +10.

Six Warriors were also in double figures in Plus/Minus: Andre Iguodala -21, Kevin Durant -17, Klay Thompson -16, Shaun Livingston -11, David West -11, and Draymond Green -10.

Only Zaza Pachulia was in the black in Plus/Minus with +3.

It was just one of those nights.  “It’s our annual beatdown at Staples by the Lakers,” Steve Kerr said. “They do this every year. Let’s just give them credit. They came in sky-high with a ton of energy, played really well, and we were flat, right from the beginning.”

Julius Randle led Lakers with a double-double

Julius Randle played big: 20 pts 14 reb
Julius Randle was second in minutes played 29:50 to Larry Nancy Jr.'s 30:12, barely. Randle did lead the Lakers with 20 points and 14 rebounds. He gave Draymond Green all he could handle, grabbing six offensive rebounds.
